This Spring, EFEE awarded a grant to the Hazardville Memorial School to fund a visit by the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. The students learned about service dogs and how they contribute to our society. This program was a supplement to the One School, One Book initiative.
EFEE was pleased to receive pictures from the visit and a large envelope of handwritten thank you notes from appreciative Hazardville students. We read and loved every one of those notes! One student asked,
'where did you get the money?' How sweet of you to ask. We get the money to help bring these special programs to your school from people who care about Enfield's children! We are so glad you enjoyed the program.
For the fourth year, EFEE hosted the Honor an Educator donation program. Families who participated made a donation the EFEE in the name of a special teacher! This year, EFEE delivered 128 personalized thank you messages to school teachers and staff members who have made a difference in the lives of Enfield’s youngest community members.
EFEE sincerely thanks families who made donations to support EFEE’s mission and sends and extra special thank you to all of Enfield’s superlative educators and school staff.
EFEE was started in 2009 by a small group of dedicated residents who had a vision to enhance the Enfield educational experience beyond the ‘usual’ classroom experience. To date, we have awarded nearly $25,000 in grants and program funding and another $2,000 in scholarships. The donations made through this and our other donation programs and fundraisers will help EFEE continue to provide funding for innovative educational resources and programs. Past EFEE grants include the Connecticut Invention Convention, JFK 7th Grade Cafeteria Murals, Parkman's Rachel's Challenge Puppet Theatre, sponsorship of the One Book, One School programs at Prudence Crandall and Hazardville Memorial, Kindergarten Learning Stations in all elementary-level public schools, and much more.
